The Socratic Study of Musical Theatre 2026!

This August/September several Artists joined our free month long intensive to do a deep dive on a song of their choosing to express who they are as creatives.

Class has been a combination of technical feedback from our guest instructors, Anna Peacock and Latoya Cameron, alongside Socratic style peer reviews. On the 19th of September each student will perform their piece for an audience in the style of a 54 below musical showcase. Sharing vulnerable and honest of pieces of Art. This intended to be showcase layered with nuance for audience members to sink their teeth into, analyze, discuss, or simply enjoy. As well as a safe space for out creatives to be vulnerable and invite our audince to whitness the growth of each through this process.

Meet our guest instructors!

Latoya Cameron (She/Her) is an actor, singer, director, and writer. She is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association, and represented by Talent Management Group (TMG). She is one of the recipients of the Mayor’s Artist Award in 2023, and was awarded the Afro Utah Festival’s Entertainment Excellence Award in 2025. Stage Credits: Murder Ballad, R+J: Star-Cross’d Death Match (2015 & 2025), Beloved King (NPSS), You Will Get Sick, Passing Strange, Four Women Talking About the Man Under the Sheet, Form of A Girl, and Stupid Fucking Bird, to name a few (Salt Lake Acting Company). She is also the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Dramaturg for Salt Lake Acting Company, a part of the Leaders of Color (LoCF) 2022-23 National Cohort for Creative West, and has been a Change Leader since 2022.

Anna identifies with all sorts of groups of people and takes pride in that! She has been singing since she was a small child with help of several mentors over the years, has done countless plays and musicals at varying theatres across Utah, and is a 911 dispatcher on top of that! Anna has participated in projects in the arts spanning from tiny musical reviews to professional theatre performances and loves them all the same, just as long as it includes one thing - connection. The ability to connect with others in so many different ways is what this life is all about. Anna was nominated for the top 10 best actresses in the state of Utah in the UHMTA competition in 2019 - performing on the Eccles Main Stage in SLC, and briefly attended Weber State University while majoring in Musical Theatre. Even though Anna works two jobs currently that aren’t related to the performing arts whatsoever, she still finds time to indulge in theatre on the side, because it’s healing for the soul and SO much fun to be a part of - always.
